What we use them for
Through Family First Life, we have access to Lincoln Financial’s life and annuity product lines. From an agent’s perspective, they tend to be a strong fit when:
- Indexed universal life is on the table. Lincoln is one of the most active carriers in the IUL category, with multiple products that fit different funding profiles, ages, and health classes. We routinely run Lincoln IUL illustrations alongside other carriers when IUL is the goal.
- The buyer wants a publicly traded stock company. Some buyers prefer the transparency that comes with NYSE-listed companies (LNC is traded daily, with public quarterly financials).
- Term life across a range of underwriting classes. Lincoln’s term portfolio is competitive in multiple rate bands.
A note on financial strength
Lincoln Financial’s current AM Best, Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, and Fitch ratings are published on the carrier’s financial-strength page and on each agency’s public directory. Pull live values from AM Best before quoting them on a call — ratings change quarterly and a cited number must be current as of the conversation.
When to consider another carrier
If the priority is member benefits beyond the policy (community grants, scholarships), a fraternal society like Foresters Financial is structured for that. If the priority is specific to the final-expense or simplified-issue market, Mutual of Omaha’s Living Promise line is widely written for that case. Lincoln is typically the answer when the conversation is IUL or broad-portfolio.
